No Meeting This Month

I am sorry to pass the news, but due to increased COVID-19 restrictions, we are not able to meet with more than 6 people from more than 2 households!  Zoom is an option, but too many have expressed dislike of meeting over zoom.

However, here are some items of business that should be useful.

-------------------------

    1. Membership renewal.  There are still several of you that have not renewed your membership for 2021.  If you were planning on doing so at the meeting, please let me know, and we can sort out how you can renew and get payment to me other than in person at the meetings.
    2. If you are a "newbee" don't hesitate to call or email for advice.  We have mentors who are happy to work with you.  We will make sure you know what you need to know to get started.  You may also use the Beekeepers Forum mentioned below to ask your questions.
    3. Claire, our Secretary and Education lead will be adding some great links on the website to teach some great practices for keeping our bees safe the rest of the winter, and things we need to do to prepare for spring.  Please check out the Beekeepers Forum under the About Bees tab on the website.   In fact, if any of you have ideas, good links, or something you wish to share, please do so on this forum.   You can subscribe to the Forum and will be automatically notified via email when anything is posted in that forum.  I very much recommend that you subscribe.
    4. Claire will be teaching a six-hour class entitled “Introduction to Beekeeping” at Tillamook Bay Community College on Wednesday, Jan 20th, and Friday January 22nd from 1:00 to 4:00.  You must register before January 15th.  To register:  503-842-8222 ext. 1320 with Joann Critelli. The cost is $20.
    5. Claire is also teaching a class for free at the Port of Tillamook Bay Conference Room (Our new meeting Place) on the 20th of February from 1:00 – 4:00. I highly encouraged all new beekeepers to join in at least one of Claire’s classes.
    6. The TCCA Farm Store on 1st and Ivy has a great supply of everything you need to get set up, and again we can guide you on what you need.  See above information about beginner classes that will be a great source of knowledge.
    7. We are working with our Bee sources to get pricing and availability data and will be ready to take reservations for Bee Packages and NUCs by February 1st.  If, pray not, we cannot meet next month, we will be taking orders for new bees via email, and the website Store.
    8. If anyone has boxes from last year’s packages, please arrange to drop them off at my home at 4400 3rd street.  We are still missing several.
