    Reynoutria japonica - Japanese Knotweed

Our agriculture folks are trying to irradicate this plant from our environment. In the meantime, it fills our hives with a nectar flow sufficient to sustain our girls for the winter.  The honey is beyond dark and has a bit of a pungent flavor.  Some folks don't like the honey, most do.  Either way, it's a great source for the honey bee, bumble bee, hover fly, and other pollinators this time of year.
