Beeware of the wax moth - detection and prevention

    Here on the coast of Oregon we are mostly susceptible to the wax moth in our stored frames over winter.  If you have any frames that are stored for next spring.  Bee careful and bee wise.

    Attached are pictures taken just this morning of the beginning a huge trouble. One is a picture of a solitary moth.  The other is early stages of the moth's travels about the frame.  She is laying eggs, and the eggs will hatch and destroy every frame stored in the same container.

    The best way is to freeze the frames, but there are other alternatives.
