A bear visited my property in Wheeler in May 2023 & ransacked my newly established second hive. My Bee Buddy graciously took my original, untouched hive to “vacation” in the country, as he hadn’t had bear challenges in the several years that he’s had hives. At least he hadn’t until this past weekend. I was cautioned by an eminent member of TBA that October was another time to expect bears & Rick Stelzig was so right. Now I’m working to have an electric fence installed to forestall future bear adventures. Kindly consider this post as a cautionary tale.
