We placed a candy board in our two Vertical Hives last week to start feeding our bees for winter. Both hives are very strong and when we hoisted them they are quite heavy. During the last few rainy days the bees were confined and really went after the food. In a week the candy board was bout half consumed. Attached is a picture to the bees all over the board.
Something to consider is if your are planning a varroa oxalic vapor treatment, you might want to do it before installing the candy board. The vapor may not penetrate the candy board where the bees are clustered. .
