Apivar Strips for Nucs

    Thank you - that makes sense. Guess I'll hold off then - I was just thinking it would be good to treat the new colonies since they might already have mites. But it sounds like the timing wouldn't be so good.

    The main problem I see is the timing. Apivar should be on for 6 weeks and then wait two weeks after removing before putting on a super. That means your bees cannot collect honey until about the first of July. Oxalic acid vaporization seems like a better idea. I believe that Apivar is best used to maintain a low mite count rather than knock out large numbers.

    I couldn't find a definitive answer online so wanted to ask if it's ok/recommended to use Apivar strips to treat hives after installing Nucs?
