Greetings Varroa Crushers!
It’s August already! How can that be? I hope your colonies are thriving. How’s your honey crop this year?
Let’s talk Varroa. This is the turning point in the beekeeping season. Now is when Varroa levels explode, while your bees are preparing for winter (more mites on fewer bees). Have you been keeping up with sampling and treating?
Take a sample this weekend. We are headed for some hot weather in the next few weeks, so if your mite levels are above 1-2%, I recommend treating THIS WEEKEND! The temps will be absolutely perfect for the highly effective Formic Pro or ApiGuard. If you wait, you will lose this window and mites will continue multiplying.
This is a crucial point in time, so please commit to your bees and keep them healthy as they prepare for winter! I’m rooting for you!
Send photos, hive reports, sample results…I’d love to hear from you. And as always, we are here to help.
Enjoy the honey harvest!
