Every Friday I get a blog from a Scottish beekeeper / researcher. Several of us have recommended this to you several times. You really should subscribe. It's free. Sometimes the articles are way too scientific. Some of it is his opinion not science. But it's usually very informative and always amusing.
Today's column is on overwintering. It's Scotland and they have different climate and laws there. The biggest difference is they can only use oxalic acid ONCE in a year! I learned that when I wrote to him awhile back suggesting he use OA vaporizations to test the phoretic varroa count in a colony.
I'm going to write him today to get his opinion on how much it matters when you are combining colonies whether the queen is in the top box or the bottom.
So here's today's article. We don't have to agree with all of it in order to still learn something. Perhaps we could discuss some of it at our September meeting.
