My very first hive was a Warre hive. It's very different. Small almost square boxes each with a window in the back. I'm not going into a detailed explanation. Look it up. It is completely incompatible with a langstroth.
The frames are just the top bar. No sides. No bottom. Which is why having windows lets you see what the bees are doing.
The beekeeper does not go into the hive for any reason except to take frames of honey which you squeeze out or cut up for cut comb honey. No checking for the queen or eggs or mites. You can treat with formic pro from the bottom board or something from the top but originally people don't go into them.
You start it with a swarm or a package. It's about a $600 value. I would like $200. You should come and see it if you are interested. I'd like to get rid of it ASAP. Thanks for thinking about it. The image below is NOT mine. Just a cut and paste image.
