    IMHO

I think that you will find equal results from either Apivar or Varoxan this time of year.  Assuming your mite count is low.  These will both help keep the count low, but will not necessarily knock down high counts of mites.

As for the new Norroa, we are seriously considering it for the Apiary right now.  The issues is two fold, 1. It's very expensive at about $20 per hive.  2. The treatment is a liquid syrup and the bees are supposed to lap it up and store it in the cells and use it over time to feed larvae.  The stored syrup will then be distrubted to the feeding larvae and poison the mite in so doing.  But, what we don't know is what happens if the bees just consume it and not store it for the larvae feedings.  We are still researching it.

Good question David, and how about the new Norroa?

Any thoughts on which way to go for Spring mites control???

I've used Apivar strips in February the last 4 years but I'm thinking of using Varoxan strips this year.
